
Education of Medical Nurses-Technicians in Rehabilitation

Education Course titled ‘’Comma – multidisciplinary approach to the treatment’’ organized by the MMA’s Clinic for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Serbian Association of Medical Nurses-Technicians in Rehabilitation and Rheumatology was held at the Military Medical Academy.
The objective of that Course was to highlight the importance of rehabilitation teamwork in the treatment of complicated cases. Seminar leader was the head the MMA’s Clinic for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Col. Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Đurović, and the main lecturers on that course were LtCol. Dejan Miljković, MD, Mrs. Marina Jovanović, speech/voice therapist, Mrs. Slađana Bošković, a medical nurse, Mrs. Bojana Jovanović a senior medical nurse and Milorad Petrović, a senior physiotherapist. Their lecture topics included bases of scientific-research methodology in Nursing Service, presentation of a case of akinetic mutism occurring after diffuse ischemic brain injury and stem cells implantation, speech therapy for anarthria during and after patient’s recovery from vigil comma, protocol for health care of the patient in vigil comma and the medical nurse’s role in giving cortical and sub-cortical therapy for the patient in vigil comma as well as positioning of immobile patients in bed and caregivers protection.
More than 200 participants attended the Course.
